Injuries Happen - Train Smart
Physical training of any type can result in injury even when done properly. Add to that the fact that the martial arts are designed to inflict injury. Accordingly, training in most martial arts means training in ways to inflict injury. Therefore, you should expect that when training such a you will suffer some form of injury. When training the goal is to protect yourself at all times and train smart to avoid injuries.
That said - it is not possible to avoid all injuries. It isn't a question of if, but when, you will have an injury. Such an injury could come from others like being hit while sparring. Some injuries could be self-inflicted like when someone punches a heavy bag wrong. Yet other injuries could be "no contact" injuries like pulling a muscle trying a kick or just walking on to the mat, and the list goes on. Because injuries are be expected each person needs to train smart and train to protect yourself at all times.
Any activity you engage in is expressly undertaken at your own risk and you will agree to follow the rules of conduct. There is a waiver for VMA in addition to any waiver or agreement required by each participating instructor.

Illness Etiquette and Rules
We learned a lot since March 2020 about managing illness as a society. In the end, the old rules remained the prevailing rules - if you are sick, stay home.
Whether is it COVID, Flu, a cold, RSV, Monkey Pox, or the next virus - if you have symptoms or if you know you were exposed to something contagious, stay home until you are cleared. While that may mean missing some training - staying home will prevent your spreading that illness to others. Your training is not more important than theirs. It comes down to respect and consideration as does most conduct in the martial arts.
That said, it is important for people training to realize not all contagious illnesses have symptoms and people can be contagious without symptoms. That is a reality of life. We cannot reasonably prevent what we do not know - that is why is it so important to follow the simple rule:
If you have symptoms or have been exposed to a contagious illness, stay out of the gym until you are clear.

(8) Sweat aside, I will keep my bodily fluids inside my body. I understand that there is no spitting of any type permitted –I understand this is not that type of gym. I agree that If I start bleeding for any reason, I will get off the floor immediately. I will go outside or into the restrooms immediately to stop the bleeding. I understand that training at VMA isn’t a title fight. I agree I don’t need to impress anyone with my ability to keep fighting after I start bleeding. If I do start bleeding, I am done working out until the bleeding stops. There is hand sanitizer and towels all around the gym. There are also 2 restrooms to wash. I agree to them as needed.
(9) I agree I will leave the gym in the same condition or better, than I found it. If I use equipment, I will return it to its correct location. I will clean what I use. I will wipe up my sweat. I will not bring food on to the mat and I will not leave any food in the gym. If I opt to drink one of those sugary poweraid type drinks – I will not bring it on the mat and I will not spill. If I break any equipment or items in the gym, I will replace them.
(10) I agree not to be a jerk when training.
